Final bits and bobs

1. Find us: Kings Place is in the same building as the Guardian offices near Kings Cross. There are two entrances: One from York Way, one from the canal on Crinan Street. http://www.kingsplace.co.uk/your-visit/travelling-to-kings-place

2. Schedule: Doors open for breakfast at 9am. The first morning sessions start at 10, second morning session at 11.30, lunch is at 1, first afternoon session at 2, second afternoon session at 3.30. Then at 5 we finish at Kings Place and retire to Canal125. Info on the afterparty
3. Cloakroom: There is a secure, staffed cloakroom for your things so you can move around freely.

4. Presentations/visuals: All session spaces have plasma screens. Please bring your laptops, even if you haven't got anything prepared - you might feel inspired to contribute on the day! If you have a spare one, even a little netbook, please bring it, every little helps and they can be plugged into provide an extra ustream corner, twitterfall, etc, because -

5. We'll all have wifi!

6. Spaces: There are rooms on two levels which we are able to use. From what we can tell, there are two main areas of interest - one being data-related, one being social media. Hence we have set up the rooms on the ground floor as main social media theatre, and the spaces on the -2 floor for the more technical subjects. Rooms listed up here: http://www.kingsplace.co.uk/conference-events/rooms-capacities - we have Battlebridge, St Pancras, divided into two, and Limehouse, Wenlock and Horsfall rooms. It's a big space, and everything is easily found.

7. The Agenda: will be on the wall, open for session ideas. Thank you to all those who mentioned ideas for sessions on the huddle workspace. We also have

8. A 60-seat conference room in which we have an agenda for the morning sessions:

1. hyperlocal - Panel (nominate yourself!) (Hugh Flouch/Justin Griggs/??)
2. Engaging externally v sorting out internal comms - Dave Briggs

Get on the Huddle space to suggest sessions, and remember you can suggest sessions on the day. We will have a lot of smaller spaces we can fill - I will definitely run a libraries on twitter surgery somewhere in a corner. Think about what you can contribute.

9. Homebase: The main part of Battlebridge room will be the room we will meet and mix during the breaks, have coffee and lunch.

10. Food: breakfast and lunch are provided free thanks to our supporters the IDeA, NixonMcInnes, Jadu, Gallomanor, Microsoft, Futuregov, Huddle, Firmstep, GovDelivery. There is also a lovely cafe inside the venue.

If you have any questions - tweet @hadleybeeman, @liz_azyan, @the_anke. I'm on 07540-108042. Don't forget to add the hashtag #localgovcamp to any updates from the event.

Welcome to the Unconference

An event for anyone interested in social media and digital engagement, and its relevance to local authorities.

LocalGovCamp London - part of a series of UK-wide LocalGovCamps

4 March 2010, 9am - 5pm, Kings Place, London

Waitlist here

The event is being run as a 'barcamp' or unconference.  That means its an open, participatory workshop-style event. There are no fees, and advance organisation around venue, catering and promotion is done by volunteers.

More about the Unconference format from our partner IDeA

The format is geared to encouraging conversation as well as presentations. Agendas are set by the participants. We will bring in conversation facilitators, specialists, and local community heroes to listen and speak to, and develop ideas with. There will be an afternoon session specifically for councillors on social media engagement.

If you want to join in - it may sound weird but it works - have a look around our site to find out more - and if you've got a topic idea, we have a space where you can test interest in advance.
